My work is grounded in bright, saturated hues. Working primarily in watercolor, silkscreen and collage, it’s an exploration of color and shape.

Sometimes the work is inspired by the meaning of home, which can be represented as an actual location or as a sense of belonging. I begin with a place, real or imagined, which I connect to personal history, then develop it using the harmonies of shapes and colors. These are interpretations of events and places – places I’ve been, places I’m going, places that have been homes in one way or another.

Another source of ideas is the balance between what we know of our world, the tension of the unknown, and the multitude of ways that people connect to one another within it. My images often evolve from dreams, children’s stories and nature. Observations over a span of time are distilled, and people, events, and elements of fantasy become integrated in memory and imagination. What emerges is a combination of abstract figures and colorful, sweeping landscapes.
