I create the weavings by attaching tiny watercolors together in long strips, then weaving them on looms I make from frames. The collages are made with handmade papers, along with papers that I paint. I also use metal, canvas, ribbon and fabric in these pieces, and some of them incorporate empty space. It can be challenging to leave an area of a painting without color, or to make a woven structure that is not entirely filled in, and what’s interesting to me is how each of us “fills in the blank.”
